All-weather Lifeboat Centre Tours
We are very pleased to announce that we will be conducting tours of the All-weather Lifeboat Centre from 1st September 2015. Discover the next generation of lifesaving in a behind the scenes tour of our world-class boatbuilding factory.
The All-weather Lifeboat Centre, based on-site at the RNLI’s Headquarters in Poole, Dorset, has brought production, maintenance and refit of our all-weather lifeboat fleet in-house; all under one roof for the first time in history. This secures a supply of all-weather lifeboats for future generations of lifesavers. It also gives us greater control of costs and quality, and it creates employment, including apprenticeships in marine engineering and boatbuilding.
The tours take place on a Wednesday at 16.30 - 17.30. The tour costs £5.00 per person. Please contact our College Reception Team to book your place on 01202 308 500 or firstname.lastname@example.org . Places are limited to 12 people.
If you have a group of 12 or more people wanting to visit the All-weather Lifeboat Centre for a tour, please contact the College events team, open Monday to Saturday between 9am and 5pm on 01202 666 141 or via email at email@example.com.
Due to crew training parking is not available on-site. However, local pay and display are within walking distance to the College. If you are travelling by minibus or coach then please inform the Events team who may be able to reserve a space for you at the College (subject to availability).
A working venue
Please note that the RNLI College is a working venue and so we cannot guarantee access to the wave tank or simulator due to training requirements.
The building is accessible to wheelchair users and lifts are available to access the upper floors. The tour requires all visitors to be able to stand/walk for 90 minutes although, if, at any time your guests need to rest then, please, bring this to the attention of your tour guide.
On the day
Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your tour start time and inform reception of your arrival. The tour will commence from the main College reception at the designated time.
