RNLI College is the home of RNLI training and the heart of the RNLI – where our extraordinary volunteers are trained to be lifesavers.
Delivering lifesaving training
It’s thanks to our rigorous and continuous training and development that our crews rescue an average of 22 people a day and get to return safely home to their families.
Sharing our expertise
Having a centre of maritime training excellence has helped us to achieve the world-class search and rescue service we operate today. And sharing our expertise with other search and rescue organisations is vital in preventing tragedies at sea not only around the UK and RoI, but internationally too.
Motivating and inspiring
The RNLI is one big family. And each member contributes in their own way to saving lives at sea. We’re proud to share this inspirational ethos with our visitors at RNLI College. You’ll feel it all around you. And that’s why being here makes you feel good.
Making a difference
Training is fundamental to saving lives. Through the training of our own lifesavers and that of our college visitors, we’re making a difference to the number of lives saved at sea. In 2015, our volunteer lifeboat crews rescued 7,973 people and saved 348 lives. Our lifeguards additionally saved 94 lives and aided 18,181 people last year. And with every £1 spent at RNLI College, you too are helping us provide the training to save future lives at sea.
